With a cup final appearance now in the bag, the Robins return to the business of Premier Division survival with what could be a pivotal contest at the Winklebury Football Complex, home of Basingstoke Town.
Following last weekend’s results, the foot of the table looks tighter than ever as Danny Greaves’ charges find themselves just a couple of points from the safety spot of eighteenth, the best position they’ve been for many a long month.
That’s down to a run of just THREE defeats in their last TWENTY outings and they will be looking to extend that against a Basingstoke side who, going into November, occupied a play-off spot but now hover just six points above the drop-zone in sixteenth.
When they visited Badgers Hill back in October, they were the only remaining unbeaten side in the league and a second-half equaliser from Alex Monks earned the Scarlet Runners a creditable 1-1 draw but since then, however, their form has nosedived.
They did thump Tiverton 5-0 at Ladysmead just over a fortnight ago, but that’s their only win in their last ten and, on national Non-League Day, their need for points will be just as great as Frome’s.
