Steve Jupp, BA11's Club Historian, previews our trip to Hampshire.
After the mayhem and merriment of that midweek mauling, Danny Greaves’ record-breaking squad hit the FA Trophy trail once more with an awkward-looking assignment in the ancient capital of England.

Like the Robins, Winchester City were relegated from Southern League Premier Division South last term and for the Citizens, that agony was prolonged to the very last minute of the campaign, their 1-1 draw at home to Taunton on the final day confirming the drop by the wafer-thin margin of goal difference.
They too have made a decent start to the league, winning THREE of their opening FOUR fixtures and like Frome, have also already met Bashley twice, ousting their Hampshire neighbours from the FA Cup at the second time of asking only to bow out in another replay at Isthmian Leaguers Fareham Town on Tuesday evening by the only goal.
This will be the Scarlet Runners’ first competitive outing of the season on plastic and back in January, they took a liking to the Charters Community Stadium newly laid 3G pitch with an impressive come-from-behind 3-1 triumph.

Saturday’s victors will pocket a welcome £1,500 from the FA’s prize fund and if it’s all square at the ninety-minute mark, penalties will decide. After being awarded an unprecedented FOUR the other night compared to just ONE over the entire course of last season, they can’t be accused of skimping on practising from twelve yards.
August turned out to be perfect, can the momentum continue to make September sensational as well? Tough tests lie ahead.
Squad Update
Sam Meakes returns to the squad after missing the midweek cup win. Meanwhile, Theo Llewellyn misses the next three matches through suspension following his red card against Plymouth Parkway.
Mike Baker will resume light training next week, so this weekend will come to soon for him, as will Harris Feltham who will have to wait until a further x-ray on the 12th September to give him the all clear to return to full contact.
The remainder of the squad came through Wednesday's cup win against Nailsea and Tickenham unscathed, with some positive performances, plenty of goals, and a win to keep the momentum going into what will be a tough game against a strong Winchester side.
